New rule boosts fundraising
Cirencester (UK) - On 17 June challenger Andreas Dohmen added a new rule to the challenge; for every £10 raised a team or individual entry will receive a 60 second time deduction from their end result. This would mean that for example Team CAT-tastic, currently £495 raised, can finish just under 50 minutes later than the winning team and could still win the challenge.
The introduction of this rule has changed the pre-vent dynamics dramatically and the fundraising for the Cirencester Opportunity Group has now seriously kicked off, with Team JCB collecting £ 230 in just 3 days!
Gift Aid
Those who have been looking at the team’s fundraising pages on the BT MyDonate website might have noticed that some donations attract Gift Aid while others don’t. What is Gift Aid and how does it work?
For every pound donated to a registered charity a UK tax payer can reclaim the basic rate of tax. The charity can then claim this amount from the UK taxman and so increasing the value of the donations.
The Beat the Boss Challenge attracts donations from all over the globe, but not all teams will collect UK donations evenly. Therefor the amount of gift aid raised will not be taken into the consideration when applying the new rule. However for the total result of the challenge the collected gift aid amount will be counted and will mean a massive bonus for the Cirencester Opportunity Group.
