An Athlete’s Story: Craig Osborne doubles his chances of success
Cirencester (UK) 21 May 2013 - Being successful in sports is not just about being physically fit and prepared. It is also about making intelligent choices and strategic moves. This is what Craig Osborne, Sales and Business Development Manager at Cisco, must have realized when he registered as an individual entry in the Beat the Boss Triathlon Challenge last week. Already a member of team HMRC, Craig will now also do the full triathlon challenge on his own, competing in the swim, the bike and the run. By doing so, the 43-year old athlete from Reading has, very smartly, doubled his chances of beating the Comstor Boss.
Craig is the swimmer for team HMRC and will do the first portion of the triathlon for his team. He will have to wear two timing chips from the start of the triathlon, one for his team and one for himself. At the first transition he will pass his team chip on to Russell Blackburn, the cyclist for HMRC, while continuing himself in the biking and running section with his own chip to register his personal achievement.
“I am doing the team relay and the individual triathlon to push myself even further physically and mentally”, says Craig. “I previously ran three half marathons and did the London to Brighton Bike race, but this is my first triathlon.” Heather Meltvedt, the third member of team HMRC, who will do the 10 km run, comments: “As a member of our team we will support Craig all the way. I am glad he is still doing the swim leg for us first though!”
Apart from being a serious contender to beat the boss, Craig could also be one of the biggest fundraisers of the challenge, by appearing on two fundraiser pages. Do you want to show your support and sponsor Craig’s individual attempt to win? Click here to go to Craig’s fundraiser page.
